The cover of the album Nightmare, by the American heavy metal, rock band Avenged Sevenfold. Nightmare is the band’s fifth stduio album which was officially released on July 27, 2010 under Warner Bros. music label.

Mike Elizondo produced, and noted music engineer Andy Wallace mixed the album. It is the first album the band recorded without drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan due to his untimely death in December 2009. Sullivan was able to write parts of the album, and do some vocals, which were all included in the final recording. Nightmare is the band’s tribute to “The Rev”.

In place of Sullivan, Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy performed drums for all the songs in the album. Portnoy also toured with the band until the end of 2010. From then on, Arin Ilejay became the official drummer for Avenged Sevenfold.

Nightmare is also the title of the first single in the album. Other tracks include “Buried Alive”, “Danger Line”, “Natural Born Killer” , “So Far Away”, “God Hates Us”, “victim”, “Tonight the World Dies”, “Fiction”, “Save Me”, and “Welcome to the Family”.

The album has been well-received, with various nominations and wins from the Golden God Awards including Best Drummer, Best Guitarists, Best Vocalist, and Album of the Year.
